Celebrate Mother's Day with Sitar, Tabla, Dance, Poetry & Songs to welcome Spring!
Enjoy traditional and original music compositions based on classical Indian melodies including the raag Basant (Sanskrit name “vasant”), a raag associated with spring. Enjoy Ghalib’s poetry and music created specially for the season and rhythmic explorations including Teentaal, Jhaptaal, Ektaal and others.
Basant in Indian and Pakistani cultures is a time associated with spring festivities, kite-flying, music and dance. The raag Basant has special significance in the Hindu and Muslim traditions and is part of the Sikh holy scripture. The #SitarFusionMothersDay musical program seeks to evoke the joy and vibrancy associated with spring!
